- Maintains knowledge of asset protection techniques, creates claims for order errors and damaged goods.
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Performs duties assigned by the Pharmacist such as utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct and checking for possible interactions.
- Reports, immediately, prescription error to the Pharmacist and adheres to company policies and procedures in regard to pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
- Follows all applicable government regulations including HIPAA, Medicare and Co-pay requirements.
- Engages patients by offering assistance, resolving issues and answering questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required.
- Directs and assists team members as needed to maintain workflow and meet/ complete deadlines as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist on duty.
- Processes claims for 3rd party reimbursement efficiently and correctly to third-party insurance providers to obtain payment.
- Earns and maintains certification and licensure as required per state regulations. Attends training and completes as requested by the Pharmacy Manager and acquires continuing education credits.
- Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
- Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

Iowa: Effective July 1, 2010, all pharmacy techs working in Iowa pharmacies must be nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). If enrolled in a technician training program, or not previously having worked as a pharmacy technician, must register as a pharmacy technician trainee within 30 days of starting technician training or employment. A technician trainee must become a nationally certified pharmacy tech within 12 months of starting tech employment or training. A pharmacy tech trainee who does not complete national pharmacy tech certification before expiration of the pharmacy tech trainee registration, must discontinue working as a pharmacy tech.

North Dakota: Pharmacy Technicians must register as a Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training with the ND Board of Pharmacy, before beginning employment in the pharmacy. An applicant for registration as a pharmacy technician must have obtained certification by a national certification body approved by the board of pharmacy. A technician registered after August 1, 1995, must obtain certification by a national certification body approved by the board of pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) are approved certification bodies. An applicant for registration as a pharmacy technician in training, will have two years to complete Sanford provided (or equivalent) education and national certification. South Dakota: Registration required within 30 days from the date of hire.
